UC San Diego Blue Line Trolley Extension An extension of Trolley service from Santa Fe Depot to the University City community. Old Town Transit Center Modernization Improvements to the OTTC included reconfiguration of existing bus bays to support bigger, articulated buses, and the construction of additional bus bays to support future service enhancements. Streetcar Feasibility Study - 2012 Results of a study conducted in 2012 to evaluate the feasibility of reconnecting Downtown and Balboa Park using a streetcar line. Downtown Rapid Stations Rapid stations added to Broadway downtown. Trolley Renewal Orange and Blue lines were rebuilt to allow the use of low-floor Trolleys over the entire network. Transit Optimization Plan MTS implemented major service changes to its bus network between 2017 and 2019 to improve connectivity, efficiency, and travel times for riders. Courthouse Station MTS built a Trolley station in downtown San Diego as the new western terminus for the Orange Line. The Courthouse station enhances trolley operations for the UC San Diego Blue Line’s Trolley extension. Encanto/62nd Street Transit Oriented Development AMCAL Multi-Housing, Inc. developed a mixed-use building designed as a transit oriented development containing affordable housing apartment units and commercial space. Mid-City Centerline Rapid Freeway-level transit stations were built on State Route 15 (SR 15) at University Avenue and El Cajon Boulevard as well as transit-only lanes north of I-805 to just south of I-8. Regional Transit Fare Ordinance Update Changes to the comprehensive fare ordinance covering MTS and NCTD fares were approved and implemented between 2019 and 2021. Grossmont Transit Center Track Repair Project The Trolley tracks around Grossmont Transit Center were fully replaced to maintain the safety of passengers and integrity of the Trolley system. South Bay Bus Rapid Transit South Bay Rapid spans 21 miles, connecting Downtown San Diego and the South Bay region. Boulevard Bus Only Lane The Boulevard Bus Way is a three-mile dedicated lane for buses along El Cajon Blvd. between Park Blvd. and Fairmount Ave. 30th Street Bus Stop Rebalancing MTS discontinued and relocated some Route 2 and Route 6 bus stops along 30th Street in areas where bus stops were placed very closely together.
