Stuff the Bus
Help drive away hunger in the San Diego region this winter! MTS joins the San Diego Food Bank, Girl Scouts, Albertsons, VONS and North County Transit District to fill our buses with food for the hungry. Help us break last year’s record of more than 23,000 pounds of food. Stop by one of 16 selected VONS or Albertsons locations in the county on Saturday, December 5 to make your donation. Items will also be accepted at every VONS and Albertsons in the region November 30-December 5. For more information, visit sdmts.com/StufftheBus.
Holiday Service
The winter months abound with holidays. Remember these important holiday service dates:
- Christmas, Friday, December 25: Sunday service. Friends ride free! Riders can bring one friend or family member per paid adult admission.
- New Year’s Day Friday, January 1, 2016: Sunday service. Friends ride free! Riders can bring one friend or family member per paid adult admission.
- Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 15, 2016: Saturday service.
- MTS will operate a regular weekday service on Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Monday, January 18, 2016) and Cesar Chavez Day (Thursday, March 31, 2016).

Service Changes
Ch-ch-ch-chaaaaanges! Our next service changes will be taking place in January. Keep an eye out for the Take One on board and online, which will include a Route 950 trial service (up to 12 months starting in late January 2016), where MTS will expand Route 950 to operate all day, seven days a week between Otay Mesa and the Iris Transit Center.
Laptop Scholarship Essay Contest
Attention all high school seniors: YOU could win a new laptop, courtesy of MTS and Coca-Cola! The annual MTS Laptop Scholarship essay contest will go live Monday, February 1, 2016. Forty seniors who write and submit the highest scored essays by the deadline will receive a brand new laptop and backpack. The essay prompt and a full list of contest rules will be available on our News and Events page starting February 1.
