How to Trolley to Wave Games in 2024

Trolley to Snapdragon Stadium

After an exciting run for the playoffs last season, the San Diego Wave FC is back for its third season!  Wave games draw in large crowds of soccer fans - with an average attendance last season of nearly 21,000 fans per match. That’s *a lot* of gridlock in the parking lot post-match. Let MTS come in with the assist - we'll help you get to and from the stadium with direct, frequent service. (Be sure to check out our Snapdragon Stadium page).

#1 Fans Get Their PRONTO Cards in Advance – and Load Them

Be sure to travel with your PRONTO card (or the app). We don’t recommend buying one-way paper tickets. Fans who buy one-way tickets will find themselves stuck in long lines pre- and post-game and they’ll miss out on the benefits – like free 2-hour transfers to help you complete your journey.

It’s easy to choose between a free virtual PRONTO card (on our PRONTO app) or grabbing a physical PRONTO card (one-time $2 fee). Each passenger will need their own separate PRONTO card or app account to pay for their fare – sorry, no sharing cards.

Virtual Card

Grab your smartphone and download the PRONTO app to register for a free virtual card. Use Google Play or the App Store by searching “PRONTO San Diego”.

Physical Card

Snag a physical PRONTO card from the ticket machines at Trolley stations, the Transit Store, or one of our PRONTO retail outlets.

How Much Do I Need to Ride?

Once you have your PRONTO app or card, you’ll want to make sure it’s loaded with your transit fare before game day. We recommend loading enough for a round-trip ($5 for Adults and $3 for Seniors).

Fares Adult Senior / Disabled / Medicare
One-Way Fare $2.50 $1.25
Earned Day Pass $6.00 $3.00

Tap or Scan Before Boarding – Every Ride, Every Time

When you get to a Trolley station, scan the app or tap your card on a station validator before boarding the Trolley. A one-way fare will be deducted from your account (and will include any transfers within two hours). If you’ve already loaded enough money onto your card, then you’re set for an easy trip back – simply tap or scan again without having to buy another fare! Need more help? Check out our video on Getting Started with PRONTO. If you make more than two trips in a day, you will stop being charged once you reach the value of a Day Pass ($6 Adults, $3 SDM).

Are you a season ticket holder or plan on going to multiple games? Add more money for future use on PRONTO. Money added to PRONTO will never expire.

Are you taking the whole family to the Wave game? Save even more with the MTS Youth Opportunity Pass (18 and under ride free) or Family Weekend promos - two kids 12 and under ride free with an adult, no PRONTO card needed.
