Chula Vista, which means beautiful view, is in the middle of our bustling bi-national region, located seven miles south of Downtown San Diego and seven miles north of the U.S. Mexico border.
Chula Vista is San Diego County’s second largest city, and as the community grows, MTS continues to increase our transit service in the area. TOP will bring more service to several Chula Vista bus routes, and the newest Rapid route is expected to open in 2018, running from the Otay Mesa border to Downtown San Diego. Ready to explore this vibrant community?
Living Coast Discovery Center: Get up close to turtles, rays, birds of prey and more. Set within a wildlife reserve, Living Coast Discovery Center gives attendees the chance to encounter animals, learn about conservation efforts and more. Now through the end of 2017, MTS riders receive a 20% admission discount when you show your Compass Card or Compass Cloud pass! Ride the UC San Diego Blue Line to E Street for a free shuttle from the Discovery Center.
Sip & Savor: There’s no shortage of good eats in this vibrant community. Get your caffeine fill at Caffe Tazza (Route 709). Stroll down the main street of Third Avenue and pop-in to Talavera Azul for some incredible chilaquiles, or head to La Bella’s for some of Chula Vista’s best pizza and enjoy the 9,000 square foot game space (Routes 701, 704 or 929). You can also hop on the UC San Diego Blue Line to H Street and stop by Tacos El Gordo to sample their adobada tacos.
