MTS CEO Paul Jablonski Passes Away

CEO, Paul Jablonski

We're grieved to share that our CEO, Paul Jablonski, passed suddenly on Sunday, May 10. Paul was a fierce advocate for public transportation. He dedicated 45 years of his life to working in transit, starting as a bus driver in college. He has been the CEO of MTS for 16 years.

It's nearly impossible for us to convey just how much Paul improved our system over the last decade-and-a-half. He was also a leading voice among transit officials across the country, respected for running one of the most efficient transit agencies. As the American Public Transportation Association said, "Paul loved public transit and was an icon in our industry. He leaves a tremendous legacy and will be missed by many."

If you want to learn more about Paul's legacy at MTS, we've attempted to capture his impact here

To remember Paul's life and celebrate his impact on MTS, the San Diego region and the transit industry, we will host a bus processional through downtown San Diego on Friday, March 15. You can tune-in to our Facebook Live shortly before 10 a.m. on Friday morning to learn more about Paul's life and legacy, and to view the processional.

Rest in peace Paul. Thank you for the 16 years of dedication to our employees, and to making us a better transit agency.
