Tap-To-Pay: One-Way Fares Now Available with Credit Cards
Hate fumbling with passes or apps? Just tap-to-pay! Use your credit/debit card or any contactless payment option (like your smartphone or Apple Watch) on a validator to buy a one-way transit pass. No PRONTO card needed! One-way fares are $2.50 and include free transfers for two hours.
Please note: there is no fare capping with contactless payment, so if you are taking more than a round-trip per day, or traveling multiple days, the discounted SDCC passes on PRONTO may be your best deal.

Gaslamp Quarter Digital Information Board: Streaming the Olympics Opening Ceremony
New for 2024! MTS installed a new digital information board at the Gaslamp Quarter station, which will be streaming Peacock content throughout the weekend. And while not Comic-Con related exactly, Gaslamp Quarter is gearing up to be in the spotlight for the Olympics later this week (Olympians are like real life superheroes, right?). On Friday, July 26, 2024, in sync with the 2024 Olympics Opening Ceremony (10:30 a.m.), Peacock is bringing a party to the streets with a full-scale marching band parading down Fifth Avenue toward the Gaslamp Quarter Trolley Station. They’ll be playing Olympics-style fanfare and will arrive at the Gaslamp Quarter Digital Billboard, where they will stream the opening ceremony live. Don't miss out on this epic celebration!
Special Events Line
Not new but still noteworthy: the Special Events Line is back! Running every 15 minutes from Thursday, July 25 through Sunday, July 28, it connects Balboa Avenue Transit Center to the 12th & Imperial Transit Center. It serves the UC San Diego Blue Line stations between Balboa Avenue and Santa Fe Depot, then continues along the Green Line to 12th & Imperial, with service to the Convention Center and Gaslamp Quarter.
For more details, download the Comic-Con Trolley System map.
Cosplay Repair Station
Superheroes fear not! If your costume needs a quick fix, head to the Cosplay Repair Station at the San Diego Central Library, just a block north of the 12th & Imperial Transit Center. Visit the San Diego Public Library’s website for more information or check out their other free Comic-Con events.
Now, you’re prepared for a legendary Comic-Con experience! Our new SDCC PRONTO cards are your magic talisman for smooth, discounted rides, while Tap-To-Pay ensures you’re not fumbling for fare like a padawan. The MTS gnomes have done their part; now it’s your turn to embark on this pilgrimage with ease and style. See you on the Trolley, heroes, and may the con be ever in your favor!
