Once upon a dream, a team of activators in San Diego had a vision to transform a vacant space of city-owned land into a public hot-spot for the community of East Village. That vision became become Quartyard, Your City Block, which is now celebrating four years of bringing the community together through the love of dogs, coffee, music, art and craft beer.
In celebration of its fourth birthday, Quartyard is collaborating with the East Village Association, and organizations throughout the community to bring a new project to life: evARTS.
In recognition of April being Arts, Culture & Creativity month in California, and in honor of celebrating Quartyard’s birthday, the Quartyard team decided to raise funds with the East Village neighborhood for the creation of a 6,000 s.f. mural.
The mural will be placed on the Alpha Project wall directly behind Quartyard, facing 13th Street, and is expected to be the first of several new public art spaces in East Village. The main artist on the project will be RISK, with contributions from other artists as well.
So, how is Quartyard going to celebrate while raising funds for this project? With the ultimate block party – showcasing live music, local breweries, mouth-watering food, silent auction items and more. All proceeds from Quartyard Turns 4 will be dedicated to the funding of the anniversary block party and mural production.
Quartyard invites all of our neighbors, near and far, to come together on April 13th to celebrate four years of bringing Your City Block to life, as well as showcasing the creation of a massive art mural.
