San Diego's biggest Fourth of July Fireworks show takes over the San Diego Bay with four barges at different points. There are great viewing areas all along the bay for this annual event! Parking is free at park-and-ride lots throughout the system.
MTS will be operating a Sunday schedule. However, to accommodate the many thousands of people heading to the Big Bay Boom fireworks, the Trolley will be adding additional service on all three lines!
Remember, it's a major holiday so the FRIENDS RIDE FREE promotion is in effect (ALL DAY). A friend may ride free with a fare-paying customer on all MTS routes on July 4, 2024 for the entire day. Youth also ride free with a Youth PRONTO card/account. Youth Opportunity Pass Program.

PRONTO is the easy way to pay for your transit fare! Download the PRONTO App to your phone, then load money onto your app ahead of the fireworks show. Alternatively, you can also pick-up and add money to a PRONTO card (one-time $2 fee) at any Trolley ticket machine (lines can get long the day of, so plan ahead!), or any participating retail network location.
POST-EVENT @ SANTA FE DEPOT & COUNTY CENTER/LITTLE ITALY (heading north):
Due to large crowds, MTS recommends passengers take the first Trolley that comes through the station (regardless of line) and transfer at Old Town Transit Center if necessary. The Green Line and UC San Diego Blue Line both serve the Old Town Transit Center.

After the event, UC San Diego Blue Line trains to San Ysidro will depart the America Plaza Station every 15 minutes with the last train to San Ysidro departing America Plaza at 11:55 p.m.
After the event, there will be additional UC San Diego Blue Line trains to UTC departing from Santa Fe Depot station. Last train to UTC from 12th & Imperial at 11:08 p.m. and 11:22 p.m. from Santa Fe Depot.

Orange Line
Take the Orange Line to the 12th & Imperial Transit Center, transfer to the Green Line and ride to one of the Green Line stations listed above.
MTS will be running a Sunday schedule on July 4th, with 15-minute service throughout the afternoon and early evening.
Pre-and post-event, the Orange Line will run mostly 30-minute service, with two extra eastbound trips. One immediately following the Big Bay Boom, and one at 10:56 p.m.
