MTS Transit Store Opening One Hour Earlier Beginning Jan. 23

Transit retail shop will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

San Diego – Beginning Monday, Jan. 23, the Metropolitan Transit System’s transit retail shop – the Transit Store – will extend the hours of operation to 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday – Friday. Previously, the store opened at 9 a.m.

“Opening an hour earlier each day will provide greater convenience for MTS customers,” said Paul Jablonski, MTS Chief Executive Officer. “The busiest times for transactions tend to be in the morning. Now customers can take care of business an hour earlier, and get on with their days sooner.

To many MTS passengers and visitors, the Transit Store is the face of MTS. The Transit Store moved to its current location at the 12th & Imperial Transit Center in June 2016. All three Trolley lines, multiple MTS bus routes, Greyhound and the MTS headquarters all operate at this location. The Transit Store offers passengers a wide variety of services including:

  • Monthly passes for MTS buses, Trolleys, and the COASTER
  • Senior/Disabled/Medicare and Youth Identification cards
  • Timetables for all routes
  • Brochures and tourist-related information
  • Special transit collectibles
  • Lost and Found
  • Commemorative and bulk pass sales

The Transit Store is open Monday – Friday and closed on weekends and most holidays.

MTS operates 95 bus routes and three Trolley lines on 53 miles of double-tracked railway. Every weekday more than 300,000 passenger trips are taken on MTS bus and Trolley services in 10 cities and unincorporated areas of the county. In FY 2016, MTS served 92.6 million riders.
