MTS and NCTD Release Limited-Edition San Diego Comic-Con PRONTO Cards

Attendees can pre-order cards this week and load a Comic-Con transit pass for a traffic-free experience

San Diego – The 2024 edition of Comic-Con is just around the corner! To get in the spirit of the largest comics and popular arts convention in the world, the San Diego Metropolitan System (MTS), North County Transit District (NCTD) and San Diego Comic-Con International partnered to release a limited-edition Comic-Con PRONTO card.

The world-renowned convention is expected to draw over 200,000 comic book and movie fans from all over the world, and MTS and NCTD will be ready to welcome costumed attendees aboard to ensure a hassle- and traffic-free experience once again. MTS Trolley ridership carried an estimated 250,000 extra passenger trips during the 2023 Comic-Con over the four days of the event. NCTD saw a 3.5 percent increase in ridership over last year’s Comic-Con weekend. Getting an early SDCC transit pass is a way attendees can ensure a smoother Comic-Con fan experience.

Comic-Con PRONTO cards will be available for presale on the PRONTO website and over the phone from July 8 to July 15. The remaining commemorative cards will be available for purchase at the MTS Transit Store in Downtown San Diego, NCTD Customer Service Centers and select Trolley and COASTER station ticket machines between July 23 and July 28.

In addition to the PRONTO card, conference goers using MTS Trolleys and buses can get discounted Comic-Con day passes, which will also be available for purchase starting July 8. Conference attendees can get discounted two-, three-, four-, and five-day SDCC pass options in the PRONTO mobile app in addition to the PRONTO website and over the phone.

Comic-Con attendees using COASTER can ride for five days and pay for just three with the COASTER 5-pack. The COASTER 5-pack provides a 40 percent discount on a regional day pass and is valid for a month from the date of purchase.

Attendees wishing to pre-order an SDCC PRONTO Card and Comic-Con day passes can visit www.RidePRONTO.com or call the PRONTO Support Team at 619-595-5636. All commemorative card purchases must include the purchase of the Comic-Con day pass and will take five to seven business days to arrive by mail. All SDCC PRONTO cards incur a one-time $2 card fee. Comic-Con transit passes will also be available in the PRONTO app (no limited-edition card purchase is available in the app).

Riders 18 and under with a registered Youth PRONTO card or app account can also ride free with the Youth Opportunity Pass. All riders must tap their fare on a platform fare validator prior to boarding.
