Gaslamp Quarter Station Digital Information Board

The Gaslamp Quarter Digital Information Board will provide unique advertising and promotion opportunities for local businesses and conventioneers, as well as transit information. The digital information board will also host important wayfinding information, community event details, timely public safety or emergency alerts, and public service announcements. The project will help provide a valuable new stream of non-fare revenue for the agency.

After several public hearings and meetings with local business entities in the Gaslamp area, the project was approved by the MTS Board of Directors in December 2022. Based on feedback provided in the planning stage, MTS made modifications to the project such as reducing the hours of operation and ensuring the footprint of the board does not get in the way of the iconic Gaslamp Quarter sign and view down the Fifth Avenue corridor.

The overall structure height is approximately 50 feet tall, and two displays are expected to be about 20 x 30 feet. The digital information board will also include wayfinding information to help transit riders and visitors navigate the area.

The digital information board will operate between 6 a.m. and midnight every day, and with static only (no video) displays running from 11 p.m. – midnight.

Construction on the digital information board began in February 2024. Construction will take place between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. primarily on weekdays. The project is to be completed in April 2024.
