MTS harnesses the powers of technology to improve efficiency of transporting Comic-Con attendees
San Diego, CA – Comic-Con attendees can say goodbye to waiting in line at ticket vending machines or ticket booths for their Trolley passes. Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) announced today that paperless Trolley tickets are now available for the first time ever on mTicket – the new mobile ticketing app available on smartphones.
Even though Comic-Con is still more than a week away, passengers can purchase and store tickets right on their smartphones today. Multiple passes can be purchased on one phone too, making it easy to travel in groups. The app is free and is available through the App Store or Google Play. For more information, visit www.sdmts.com/mTicket.asp.
One-, two-, three-, four- and five-day passes are available for $5.50, $10, $13, $16 and $20 respectively. Users of mTicket do not need a Compass Card and can activate the mTicket at any time on the day of travel prior to boarding the Trolley. The mTickets are only valid for Trolley services and do not work to ride the bus.
MTS has also printed a limited quantity of commemorative Comic-Con day passes. The two-, three-, four- and five-day commemorative passes are sold at ticket booths at select Trolley stations or The Transit Store at 102 Broadway in downtown. Fans wishing to purchase the commemorative Comic-Con Trolley passes in advance can call The Transit Store at (619) 234-1060. Day passes provide unlimited rides on all Trolley lines and most MTS bus routes.
Additionally, MTS will substantially increase service on the Green Line for all five days of the convention, which provides direct service to the Trolley stations next to the Convention Center. Trains are scheduled to serve the Convention Center every 7.5 minutes almost all day long (from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.). Details about the expanded Comic-Con Trolley service can be found on the MTS Comic-Con webpage at www.sdmts.com/Trolley/ComicCon.asp.
MTS operates three Trolley lines on 53 miles of double-tracked railway and more than 90 bus routes. For more information on how to save money by using public transportation, go to www.sdmts.com.
